Percentage calculation

Percentage calculation is frequently used in shopping discounts, interest calculations, success rates, and statistics.

Basic formulas: X% of Y = X * Y / 100. Percentage change = (New - Old) / Old * 100. Percentage increase/decrease = Old * (1 ± Y/100).

Practical examples: 15% of 200 = 30. Increase from 150 to 180 = 20% increase. 20% discount on 500 = 400.

Note: Decimal point/rounding errors are common in percentage calculations. Always verify the result.

Age calculation

Age calculation is used in official documents, insurance, retirement calculations, and health assessments.

Correct age calculation: Calculates the full number of years, months, and days from birth date to current date. Month and day differences are taken into account.

Example: Someone born on March 15, 1990 is 36 years, 7 months, 7 days old on October 22, 2026.

Note: Some countries use different age calculation methods (e.g., East Asia 'age +1' rule).

VAT calculation

VAT (Value Added Tax) is applied at 1%, 10%, and 20% rates in Turkey. Adding VAT to price and extracting VAT from VAT-inclusive price are the most common operations.

Adding VAT: Net price * (1 + VAT rate). E.g.: 100 + 20% VAT = 120.

Extracting VAT: Gross price / (1 + VAT rate). E.g.: 120 VAT-inclusive → 120 / 1.20 = 100 net.

Note: VAT rate varies by product/service type. Food 1%, accommodation 10%, general 20%.

Date difference calculation

Calculates the difference between two dates in days, months, and years. Used for project planning, delivery date calculation, and age calculation.

Business day calculation: Calculates the number of business days by excluding weekends and holidays. Critical for project management.

Note: Leap year calculations require attention. February can be 28 or 29 days.
