Area and Volume Calculator Guide
This guide calculates area and volume of boxes, rooms and tanks directly in your browser. Enter length, width and height in meters; results appear in square meters, cubic meters and liters. Interior net dimensions improve accuracy. Five to ten percent extra balances cutting losses. Everything runs locally.
Step by step
- Set units to meters, keep every input consistent.
- Measure inside length, width and height carefully.
- Type values into matching fields, mind decimals.
- Compare area and volume outputs across units.
- Add five to ten percent extra, round upward.
- Repeat with alternate heights for consistency.
Example scenario
A tank 2 meters long, 1.5 wide and 1.2 high: base 2 times 1.5 equals 3 square meters, volume 3 times 1.2 equals 3.6 cubic meters. At 1000 liters per cubic meter, capacity is 3600 liters, rising to 3780 liters with five percent extra. Round to 3800 in practice.
Check your result
Confirm units and decimals; mixing centimeters with meters distorts volumes. Multiply base by height manually. Note interior versus exterior gaps. Apply five to ten percent and round up.
Frequently asked questions
Why measure inside?
Outside dimensions include walls, overstating capacity.
Liters from cubic meters?
Multiply cubic meters by one thousand.
How much extra?
Five percent for regular shapes, ten for irregular.
Round up or down?
Always round capacity upward.
L-shaped rooms?
Split into two rectangles, calculate separately.
