Practical guide

Fit a photo under an upload limit such as 200 KB

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

Application forms may impose a file-size limit as well as pixel dimensions. This tool reduces JPEG or WebP quality and, when needed, dimensions to meet the chosen KB ceiling. A small file is not automatically suitable: check the destination’s format, dimensions and content rules too.

Step by step

  1. Upload your image and enter the target KB value. You can select up to 10 files.
  2. Choose a format accepted by the destination. Use JPEG if WebP is not supported.
  3. Download and check both byte size and pixel dimensions, then zoom into faces and text.

Example scenario

Example: a form requires a JPEG no larger than 200 KB. Choose 200 and JPEG output. If the form still rejects it, check pixel limits, extension and how the site measures KB; a slightly lower target may help.

Check your result

Limits are 10 MB per file, 50 MB total and 16 megapixels per image. Small targets reduce detail and resolution. Metadata is removed, so keep the original for your archive. If fixed dimensions are required, avoid enlarging a degraded result; use a better source or an appropriate quality target.

Frequently asked questions

Are KB and pixels the same?

No. KB measures file size, while pixels describe width and height. Both requirements must be checked.

Can reaching the target reduce quality?

Yes. Quality and sometimes dimensions are reduced, especially with very small limits.
