Practical guide

Turn text in a photo into editable words

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

Image OCR converts printed text in a photo or screenshot into text you can copy. It saves retyping, but still needs spelling and number checks. A sharp screenshot is usually easier to read than a phone photo with perspective distortion or shadows.

Step by step

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, up to 10 MB and 12 megapixels.
  2. Select the text language and start processing. Keep the document upright.
  3. Review and edit the result before copying or downloading it.

Example scenario

Example: you are copying a model number and instructions from a product label. Even if the paragraph looks correct, check O versus 0 in the model number separately. Preserve units and decimal marks when editing instructions.

Check your result

Tiny letters, patterned backgrounds, reflections and blur can cause mistakes. Crop to the relevant area and try a clearer source if possible. OCR is not translation; the language choice helps recognition. Output line breaks do not reproduce the original graphic design exactly.
