What to check before publishing JSON-LD

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

Structured data describes information already present on a page in a machine-readable form. Generating code alone does not guarantee rich results or higher rankings. This tool produces starter markup for Organization, Product and Article; review it alongside any schema your CMS already outputs.

Step by step

  1. Choose the type that describes the page: Organization for an organization, Product for a real product page, or Article for an article. Do not add unrelated types just to seek more visibility.
  2. Enter the name, description and permanent page URL. For Product, match price, currency and availability to the visible page. For Article, use the actual author and original publication date.
  3. Review the generated JSON-LD. The displayed script block can be added to an HTML template; the downloaded JSON file contains data only. First check whether an existing plugin already generates equivalent markup.

Example scenario

If the product page shows 249.90 USD, price should be "249.90" and priceCurrency "USD". Do not leave an unavailable product marked InStock. Replace this illustrative price with your current price: the tool does not fetch price or stock from your shop.

Check your result

Check the published URL in Google’s Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator. This generator covers basic fields only; address additional requirements and errors for the intended result type. Never invent reviews, ratings or authors absent from the page.

Frequently asked questions

Should I add this if my WordPress plugin already generates schema?

Inspect application/ld+json blocks in the page source first. Adjusting the existing plugin is preferable to describing the same product twice with conflicting prices.

Does a valid test guarantee display in search?

No. Valid markup is only part of technical eligibility. Google does not guarantee a rich result; content and other eligibility conditions also matter.
