Batch File Renaming: Build a Clear Numbering System
Names such as IMG_001 and final-final make a collection hard to navigate. A shared prefix and sequence can make product or project files easier to hand over, provided you verify the order before delivery.
Last updated:Try three files first
For three photos of product 123, enter product-123 as the prefix and 1 as the start. Output names look like product-123_0001.jpg. Numbering follows the order supplied by the browser’s file selection; do not assume automatic capture-date sorting. Match old and new names in the results table.
Renaming is not conversion
The tool packages the original contents under new names in a ZIP. Recognizable extensions are preserved; a file without a suitable extension may receive .bin. Calling a JPEG file PNG does not convert its contents. Use a separate converter if you need another format.
Open the archive before delivery
Work in groups of up to 20 files. Spaces and some punctuation in prefixes may become underscores. Extract into a separate folder and open the first and last files to verify names against content. Continue numbering from the previous batch to avoid collisions. The original files are not renamed on your device; keep them.
