Practical guide

Redirect Chain Checker

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

Old http addresses that do not point cleanly to https land visitors on errors. This guide shows each 301 and 302 step. Inspect only public links over standard ports, max six requests. Never query login-gated URLs.

Step by step

  1. Enter the full public address with scheme.
  2. Start the query and let the server follow the chain.
  3. Read 301, 302, and final 200 codes.
  4. Note loops or long chains.
  5. Wait after cleanup, re-query.

Example scenario

A campaign link shared as http: first hop 301 to https, second 302 to the new page, final 200. A needless middle address is removed; a fresh check confirms a clean chain.

Check your result

Read steps in order. Note over three hops, loops, or domain jumps. Confirm 301 for permanent, 302 for temporary. Look for 200 at the end.
