Build UTM Links: Distinguish Two Links in the Same Campaign

A newsletter’s top button and footer link may lead to the same page. Keeping one campaign name while changing the content value helps organize those links. Start with a small naming plan instead of improvising every address.

Build UTM Links: Distinguish Two Links in the Same Campaign

Prepare the five fields

For example, use newsletter as source, email as medium and autumn_2026 as campaign. Use top_button for the upper button’s content and footer_text for the lower link. Leave term empty when unnecessary. Source, medium and campaign are required by this tool; use consistent names for the same effort.

Inspect existing parameters

Enter the destination and generate the result. Filled UTM fields replace existing values of the same name. An empty term or content field removes its previous UTM value from the input URL. On a product page with filters, verify that required filter parameters remain intact.

Open before sharing

Test the link in another tab. Check the intended page and product, and whether redirects preserve the parameters. Keep capitalization consistent: Google Analytics can treat differently capitalized values separately. Do not put private details such as names or email addresses in the URL; recipients can see them.

Building is not measuring

Utilgo prepares the URL in your browser and offers a text-file download. It does not count visits, create an analytics account or generate reports. Measurement needs suitable analytics on the destination site. Keep a simple register of the campaign, source and content names you used.
