Scheduling Across Time Zones: Send More Than a Clock Time
“The meeting is at ten” is ambiguous for a distributed team. Specify a source time zone, date and duration together so the calendar event represents the intended moment.
Last updated:Choose the source zone and date together
For a call from Istanbul with colleagues in London and New York, select Europe/Istanbul and enter the actual meeting date. Do not apply a fixed hour difference throughout the year; daylight-saving schedules can change on different dates. Check the resulting day and date as well as the time.
Check clock-change dates
When clocks move back, the same local time can occur twice. The tool’s earlier/later choice distinguishes these occurrences. A time skipped when clocks move forward needs a different valid time. Inspect target-zone results carefully before sending an event on such dates.
Downloading is not sending an invitation
Enter target zones on separate lines and choose a title and duration. Download the comparison as CSV and the event as ICS. Import the ICS into your calendar to check start and end. A download does not email participants or create a meeting link. Each recipient should check their calendar’s local time.
