Crop PDF - Set Page Margins in Millimetres

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

School registration forms often arrive with thick black scanner borders, for example 25 mm of dark edge on each of 10 pages that wastes ink. Utilgo Crop PDF trims the top, bottom, left and right margins by millimetre values and leaves a clean sheet. The adjustment happens in your browser, so student details never leave your device. Before saving, you inspect the preview to confirm the signature box on page 3 and the photo area on page 5 remain intact.

Step by step

  1. Open registration-10-pages.pdf and inspect the black border on page 3.
  2. Enter 15 in the top and bottom boxes and 12 in the left and right boxes.
  3. Choose all pages, or type 2-6 to crop only that range.
  4. Check the preview to confirm the signature box on page 3 still fits inside the frame.
  5. Download registration-cropped.pdf and upload it to the school portal.

Example scenario

Ayse prepares a 10-page school registration scan and notices a 25 mm black frame on every sheet. She crops 15 mm from top and bottom and 12 mm from the sides, then checks page 3 in the preview. She saves the file as registration-cropped.pdf. The portal accepts the form without errors and printing uses noticeably less ink.

Check your result

Scroll through all 10 pages before printing; the signature box on page 3 and the photo on page 5 must remain visible. If 15 mm cuts into text, lower the value to 10 mm and preview again. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened for security reasons. Editing a signed PDF will invalidate its digital signature.
