What to expect when moving PDF text into Word

Prepared by: Gsetsoft · Updated:

This tool transfers readable PDF text into an editable Word document. It is intended for revising wording and moving content into a new document. It does not reconstruct a complex page design exactly. Images, multiple columns and sophisticated tables may not retain their original layout.

Step by step

  1. Check whether you can select and copy a sentence in the PDF.
  2. If text cannot be selected, run PDF OCR first, then convert that output to Word.
  3. Download the DOCX and compare paragraphs, accented characters and page breaks with the original.

Example scenario

Example: an old agreement needs an updated address. You can edit the extracted text in Word, but may need to rebuild the logo, signature area and page layout. Do not treat the edited document as the original signed agreement.

Check your result

Reading order can change on multi-column pages. Review split words, footnotes and headers. Incorrect copied characters can indicate a PDF font encoding issue. Use PDF to Excel for table calculations, or keep PDF when preserving page appearance matters most.

Frequently asked questions

Are pictures and tables reproduced exactly?

No. This conversion focuses on text and does not guarantee identical layout or table structure.

Why is a scanned document empty?

It may contain only images. Apply OCR in the correct language first and check the recognised text.
